The entries for the Grange Furniture Inc. design contest “Colorful Exceptions” have been narrowed down to seven competitors and local interior designer Tinsley Hutson-Wiley is a finalist with her red, white and blue inspired design! Online voting from now until February 3 will determine the grand-prize winner. Ms. Hutson-Wiley’s winning design will be auctioned off at the Grange New York showroom auction event and 75% of the proceeds will be donated to her charity of choice, San Francisco’s Raphael House.
Tinsley Hutson-Wiley emerges from San Francisco with ‘Stars and Stripes’, a unique finish displaying an intermeshing of the French and U.S. flags. Tinsley was inspired by the two countries’ relationships, flags, as well as their independence and Bastille Day celebrations. Her contemporary graphic design uses red, white and blue stripes offset by an oversized silver star. The juxtaposition of the traditional lines of the piece with a modern graphic design creates an updated traditional feel reflecting her approach to interiors.
